Yesterday evening after my work out at the gym I visited my parents house to have a lovely dinner with them. For a reason I have felt I have not visit them for sometimes. But, on the other side, I visited them last Tuesday. Is it wired how the mind can create non-correct feelings, thoughts and memories.
However, yesterday at my family house my mom had bought with her from abroad a sort of bread which I have never seen before.
Before eating the bread need some oil, salt and heat up a little bit. In my opinion the bread did not taste amazing, but with oil, salt and a bit warm made the bread to taste good. So, I am looking forward to eat it again.
On top of everything, I do not understand a word of the package.
Yesterday afternoon/evening i got time to bake my favorite bread. Some reason this bread are one of my favorites are: it is heavy not light fluffy French toast bread, easy to make and tasty!
Also to have homemade bread for breakfast is a luxury. Nothing, absolutely nothing taste better then home baked bread or buns.
Nowadays, when I am making the bread I am following a recipe but starting to change some of the ingredients. For example minimizing the amount of wheat flour and adding more of rye flour and some spices and syrup.
Yes, have a slice of this heavy bread with cheese and cucumber and a cup of chai (tea).
- 300g optional mixed nuts and seeds , such as sunflower seeds , pumpkin seeds, hazelnut, pecan nuts
- 300g dried fruits such as apricots , prunes , raisins
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 2 cups rye flour
- 4 cups flour
- 5 cups sour milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup dark syrup
Do this: Chop the nuts coarsely and shred fruits . Mix the nuts with salt, rye and wheat flour. Mix buttermilk and baking soda and stir into the dry ingredients with the syrup and fruit. Stir together until smooth . Pour the batter into a loaf shape, 1.5-2 liters , with greaseproof paper in . Bake the bread in the bottom of the oven for 2 hours. Cover any bread at the end if it gets too dark . Take the bread out of the mold and let cool towel.
Well, I am too weak for bread. Especially darker bread and not the typical french white fluffy bread.
Bread with dry fruits and nuts is perfect, pure energy bombs.
This time I made to different sort of dry fruits and nuts breads. One of the bread had allot of nuts and fruits 450 gram in total while the other bread had only 100 gram.
With my disappointment the bread with limited amount of fruits and nuts did not turn out that good. I have not idea why… There for, I have got a job to figure it the reason.
Right now, for the moment, my CV is getting updated and I am thinking what have I done over the past years.
Got scholarships, worked, been the chairman, danced preferences, modeled , studied and much more…. At least my CV start to look like something!
homemade fruits and nuts
last night was spend at my parents home. The reason was I needed some help with my studies and also needed to print out some papers. I do not have a printer at my home, but need on badly.
However, when I was alone today, I baked bread for the first time.
The preparation time was may be only 20 minutes MAXIMUM, but was in the oven for 2 hours.
- 300 g of nuts (I used sunflowers seed and almonds)
- 150 g of dry fruits (raisin and apricots)
- 2 dl coarse rye flour
- 4 dl wheat flour
- 5 dl soured milk (3 % fat)
- 1 dl dark syrup
- 1 tsp bicarbonate
- 1 tsp salt
First I mixed all the nuts, dry fruits the flours and salt together. Next step mixed the soured milk, syrup with bicarbonate. Then added the fruits/nuts/flours mixed with the soured milk mixed.
Put the mixed in a form and in the oven for 2 hours.
I had the bread for dinner and I loved it.
Next time, I might try to skip the fruits and nuts.
Yes, that is how I feel right now. I will soon have a party with my amazing Swedish dark bread (that parcel I wrote before about).
Actually, I told my parents about the bread problem in India. All breads have sugar. Many of my Indian friends did not know that. I guess, I spoke to wrong people, my friends only know how to make Maggie. I would be surprised if they knew how to make porridge, scramble eggs or a meal.
So, there for my parents did send a parcel with Swedish dark bread, crispy/hard bread and best of all Muesli!
Muesli, with blueberries(it is hard for me to believe it)!
I have tried to find good muesli in India and it is almost impossible. Well, they do have some in the international food store. But then the price is sort of a nightmare, over 400 rupees. If the price is okay then the muesli has allot of honey, nuts and other unnecessary things.
I can not say it enough, I am so happy I got the parcel and wooooow. It will be a party during that time I have Swedish bread.
