Gingerbread cookies

May be this is a good idea to for the baking, gingerbread cookies.

The only problem is, the dough has to stay rest for a night. At the same time, it is weekend and I can travel to my parents house without any problems.

On top of that, homemade gingerbread cookies are so much better than the cookies from the stores. Also, the sense of gingerbread cookies are one of the best during the whole christmas.

A good tip for snacks for a christmas party is to have gingerbread cookies with blue cheese. So good.

Pure and Simple, is what I like

I am this big sucker for cooking books. My bookshelf contain most of textbooks from 3 years of business studies and than with all the cooking and baking books.

The bookshelf has too many books, but I love them all. Some of my cooking books are from Sweden other are from India and Canada, also Germany. The biggest must for my cooking books are they have to have photos on almost all the reciepes. So, there are photos to compare the dish from the book with my dish. Major reason is to get inspiration from the book and to get the feeling I want to try to do this dish. However, normally I do not have all the ingredients so it always ends up with I skip this ingredient and use this one instead. Most of the time the dish turn out good.

What I have faced with Indian cooking books, they requring a lot of ingredients and not in big quantityeither, all the spices for ecample, 1/2 teaspoon, or 1 teaspoon of this and that. So when I got this book Pure and simple, my joy was was extrem. The recipes are simple, does not ask for 10-15 different ingredients and in the back of the book shows step by step how to make Paneer, gravy and much more. A very good book for a pure beginner. The only thing I have to comment is the book has only veg recipes, if it good or bad. I do not know, but most of the dishes are veg.

 

Sweet soup with chicken

Before I went to the gym I made my very first sweet potato soup. Before I started with the cooking, I did some research on recipes becasue I have never done sweet potato soup. However, in the end there was no recipe whcih I followed.

The base is with Indian spices such as tumeric powder, chilli, cumin and some more. I got this amazing taste from teh spices and something extra most likelt from the sweet potato. On top of that the soup had some food yogurt.
To get some extra food, chicken was fried while I heated the soup up. One thing fore sure, I would love to make sweet potato soup again.

I am so sorry for the bad picture, but it is not easy to be still with a lot of things going on in a super small kitchen.
My friend spoke about the spices and how the onions should look like and much more.

We made chicken and added some milk in the gravy to make the gravy less thin. However, the smell of the food was amazing. The taste was good too, better than many resturants!

Also, I made chapati 1 out of 3 was full with air, that is how chapati should be on the pan.

So excited for tonight

What a day. I have done my laundry, grocery shopping for this week and clean my apartment, final call I am studying now!
Everything is done and now I can study till the evening arrives. A Indian friend is coming over at my place to cook Indian food in my super small kitchen. The plan is to make chicken and chapati. Well, I can not say I know how to make chapati, so he is going to teach me, let see how it turns out. I am going to take a lot of photos and evaluate our cooking skills.
Also, after the dinner and so on, I am of course going to the gym for cardio. But that will be in the night.

Veg Lunch

Today I tried green lentils instead of oranges. The green does not get destroyed that easily.
This patch turn out tasty after adding chili flakes.

The green lentils cooked with ginger, cummin seeds, tumeric powder also some cloves and tomatoes. Also, some water.
When ever the heat is missing the flakes is the best solution to get some heat. I am really pleased.

Daal which is to thick

Good morning!
For some days ago a friend and I went to a Indian store near to Drottninggatan to buy things for our indian cooking. I bought a lot all of things beside one spice which I have almost nothing left. One of the major reasons why I went to the store to buy that spice and I totaly forgot it.
Anyway, so today I mad daal after weeks with non-veg!
While cooking the daal I managed to forget the time and the daal become too thick. However, too thick dall is not that big of a problem. I prefer too thick daal than a too thin and watery. Becasue I can always add some water when the daal is heating up.
For this daal I used all ready mad masala becuase the energy for mixing and adding all the requried spices take time and energy which I did not have.

The daal is mixed with coscos, becasue I want to finish coscos very soon. I am hoping i can sson do chapati because I miss it so much.

stew or soup who knows?

So, for some weeks ago I had this amazing meat soup with my grandsparents and could not stop thinking about the dish. Therefore, I decided to cook the dish today, while I needed to do huge grocery shopping.
I really liked the soup, however due to the hugh amount of meat, I could not follow the recipe to 100 %.

I used:

1 kg meat,
5-10 new potatoes 2 carrots
2 onions
2 red pepper

cut everything in small pices. Put the greens and the meat in the pan and fry. When everything are fried add the tomatoes, stocks and everything else. Let it boild for some time and then it is tasty and read to eat.

Homemade jam

So, yesterday was the day I made for the very first time my very own jam of blueberry. Yes, I made jam alone.
It was a fun thing to do and I want to do it agian.
However, there are so many differnet recipes for jam. More or less a big sea. I read different recipes and ended up to make my own with how many DL of berries and sugar.
So, in the first patch was with 15 dl of berries and 5 dl of sugar.

One of my many weaknesses is…

All the spices I have collected from Canada, Kazakhstan, India and some countries from South America. Well, I have to confess only salt and pepper do not help to make good and tasty food. There has to be some sort of twist.
Whenever I am cooking chili has to be in my food. However, I have not make the mistake of adding too much chili for sometime now. Instead, too less chili, but better to have to add more while eating than having tears from the food.

I really love mustered seeds, garam masala, and cumin seeds. They are the amazing. Also, sometimes when I am cooking the smell from the maslas are sipping out from my door and out to the stairs… I really hoping none is against my food….

I love spices
